In 2001, I embarked on a journey to discover my Irish roots by exploring Ireland. My adventure on the emerald island was an amazing experience, one that I will never forget. I loved the kindness and hospitality of the people, the beautiful landscape, the old castles, hearing the live traditional Irish music in the pubs, the hearty Irish stew, the beer (of course), the smell of peat fires in the countryside and the quaint little towns and their brightly colored buildings. This work was created by using an old manual SLR film camera and black-and-white negative film.  The traditional negative is scanned on a drum scanner to create a 300 megabyte digital file which serves as a vehicle for some balancing, such as dodging and burning that was formerly done in the darkroom.  Once the aesthetic interpretation is realized in the computer and matched with the artist proof print created in the traditional "wet" darkroom, the image is then printed on fully Archival Premium Satin RC Paper.
