THE COLORADO SERIES

Photographing Colorado has been a dream of mine for over 25 years. The first time I was inspired was when I looked through a black and white landscape photography book that had been given to me as a gift. I saw these gorgeous landscapes of nature that had been taken by the photographer Ansel Adams. From that moment, I knew that I wanted to experience Colorado first hand and explore its scenic beauty and history.

Dreams do come true. With 3 camera bodies in tow, along with the very last of the discontinued Kodak Infrared High-Speed Film, I got to travel to Colorado this past September of 2010.

As an artist, I strive to create works that capture and preserve the beauty in nature and in vanishing places. The body of work includes the mining town of Silver Plume, Rocky Mountain National Park, Red Rocks Park, the Sangre de Cristo Mountain Range and parts of Southern Colorado.

To see more work from the Colorado series, please visit my website.

FINE ART COMMISSION COMPLETE!

I am happy to report that my fine art commissioned project was a huge success. This limited edition print, titled "Moonlight Beach - I, Encinitas, CA" is the final artwork that the client decided on for their home. My client loved how I captured all of the elements ... the sand, the cliffs, the ocean waves and rocks. They loved the mood of the piece. The fine art fiber based print was professionally framed to museum standards. Today, it was shipped to Geneva, Switzerland where it will hang in their private residence.

FINE ART COMMISSION

I am thrilled to announce that I have been awarded a Fine Art Commissioned Project. I have already started production. I will be photographing B&W landscapes of the Northern San Diego California coastline, capturing the ocean and cliffs. For this project, I will be using a medium format camera, along with traditional B&W 120mm film. The fiber base silver gelatin print will be framed and hung at a private residence in Geneva, Switzerland.

ART and PHOTOGRAPHERS GALLERY

I have been represented by Photographers Gallery in Los Angeles since 2006. Photographers Gallery has a diverse collection of works and I am honored to be with them, as they represent some great photographers. Some of the photographers that I admire include Robert Doisneau, Alfred Eisenstaedt, Berenice Abbott, Margaret Bourke-White, Michael Magill, Kerik Kouklis and Mia DelCasino.

Gallery owner Keith Milton, a London native, was formerly the creative head at Virgin Records. He did music videos for some of the top Billboard names in the industry including Lenny Kravitz and David Bowie. But in 2002, Keith decided to leave the music industry and embark on a new creative direction. That same year he opened Photographers Gallery.

Space Magazine did an article on Keith and the gallery called “Hot Art, Cool Vibe” and it featured one of my works “Pine Trees I, Mammoth CA.” Please be sure to check it out.

Next time you are in the Los Angeles area, stop by the gallery for a visit, view the amazing collection of works and say “hi” to Keith. Cheers!

ANOTHER ONE BITES THE DUST

Today, Kodak announced that they will discontinue Tri-X 320 in 120/220 format. They also said that they have enough to last through March of 2010, but after that, no more. Kodak TXP320 B&W is the last 220 film as Tri-X 400 (TX) is not manufactured in 220 format. I am not a user of this particular film, but being a huge fan of B&W medium format films, I am bummed to see it go. Just don't take my Kodak Professional Plus-X 125 120mm film away!
